Door Sign

Howdy Y'all.
I made a sign for my front door with supplies I had in the garage.  Spray paint, wood paint, a Texas and a star stencil.  It was really simple and super fun. I'll make it fancy for each holiday season.

I practiced spraying out HOWDY on the back side first. Then I went for  it.

I hand painted the stencils and let the board dry.

I then added some Texas touches to the stencils and let them dry.

The final product with fall decorations!

Christmas Trees with wings

This holiday season I met up with some friends for the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, Neveda. I flew from Houston to Salt Lake to Vegas and back again. Each airport had very unique and festive ways of spreading the holiday cheer. I had to share.

How amazing are theses trees?!?! Great Job Las Vegas.

Creative and traditional Salt Lake City.

WTF, Houston????

November Baby!

November is my birthday month and this is my new birthday bike.  Riding a bike is a lot like life, you never really forget how to ride, you fall and you have to get back up and get back on, the more you pedal the farther you'll go.  I'm not sure how many bikes I've had in my lifetime but I LOVE bikes and riding them. I hope you have a bike and that you have a nice place to ride it.

Enjoy Life.  Keep it simple.

She's Crafty!

How I turned this into this, this FALL Season!

Glitter Acorns

1. Go outside, take a brisk fall walk, pick up acorns and put them in your pockets.
2. Rinse the acorns in your pockets off in the sink and let them dry for an hour or so.

3. Grab your glue, glitter and a paintbrush. There's about to be a party up in here.

4. Grab a glass of a wine and your cat for spot on creative judgement, I mean good company. ;-)

5. Paint the acorns with glue and gently drop into glitter, coat with glitter using a spoon. Let dry 10 to 15 minutes.

6.  Spray clear sealer over glittered acorns.  DO IT.  This will keep glitter off of you, your cats, your furniture, family, friends, floors, etc. Trust me, do this or your boyfriend/husband/girlfriend/wife/significant other will bitch, a lot. Let dry for 30 minutes.

7. Glue the acorns back into a stem that fits nicely. Let dry 15 minutes.

8. Use all of your sparkly acorns around a fall scented candle or whatever you see fit. Be festive.

HAPPY FALL, YALL!

Crafty Pants!

How I turned this into this, this Halloween season.

  1. Rake the leaves all over your yard.  You know you need to do it so just do it.
  2. Put a handful of leaves into a white, plastic trash bag.
  3. Tie string around the pile of leaves at the bottom of the trash bag.
  4. Rip out the plastic handle/tie of your plastic trash bag.
  5. Use a black Sharpie to draw on eyes and a mouth.
  6. Use a zip tie in the top of the Ghost's head for tying the string through.
  7. Grab a stool, box, ladder, whatever you can to get yourself up your tree branches. Be CAREFUL. Don't fall. Don't be dumb.
  8. You can throw the roll of string over the branch, holding one end of string instead of any of the above.
  9. Hang up your Ghostly Ghost for all the neighborhood to see.
Happy Halloween, Jelly Bean!

Crafty Pants!

How I turned this into this this Halloween season!

  1. Do your laundry.
  2. Rinse out your Tide Pods container and soak the front sticker off in a sink for a couple of hours. Use warm water with dish soap to really help get that sticker off. It isn't easy.
  3. Scrub the wet sticker off with a coin, a scrubby sponge, your finger nails, whatever, this part sucks but just do it.
  4. Let your orange Tide container dry.
  5. Draw your pumpkin face on your container, go CRAY CRAY and have fun!
  6. Cut your pumpkin face out with a box cutter or kitchen knife or whatever, DO NOT CUT YOURSELF, don't be stupid and don't blame me if you do cut yourself.  I didn't make you do it.
  7. Use battery operated candles ( 2Pack for $1.00 at the dollar store)
  8. When the sun sets and the sky is dark go outside, turn on the fake candle, set it inside your adorable pumpkin, pick the best spot for your pumpkin, set it there for the world to see and enjoy.

Happy Halloween, JELLY BEAN!

Lake Blanche Hike Wasatch National Forest Utah

Lake Blanche is a beautiful, steep, hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, Utah.  The trail head is located in the S curves on your way to Solitude and Brighton resorts.

It took me 3 hours to get to the top. I was passed by a girl wearing a dress and Teva sandals on the way up and she was coming down before I even made it up to the lake. Mind you, I was wearing brand new, one hundred dollar, water proof, hiking shoes from REI, waterproof shorts, also from REI, REI wool hiking socks, none of which I needed and definitely didn't improve my speed on the way up. The girl wearing the dress clearly remembered passing me on the way up because as she passed me on her way down she told me "you're almost there."
Ha!

I had just moved to Utah in July of 2015 from Texas and I haven't been on a hike since 2011, Rattle Snake Lake in North Bend, WA.

This hike kicked my butt. My legs burned for 3 days afterward and I had two very intense bloody noses the next day. My Sea level lungs were not ready for the altitude. It's a great hike, beautiful, peaceful and a great workout. I'll do it again once I've built my lungs and legs up on easier trails nearby. It took me 2 hours to get down. Just an FYI.

Because I can't play roller derby until December or January, I am trying out hiking as a means to please my soul which needs physical activity that is not only major cardio but causes several forms of pain as well as the threat of possible injury.  I have an addiction to feeling my heart pounding in my ears, pain, sweat and breathing hard to remind me I'm alive and to LIVE!

More hikes coming soon.

Happy Anniversary

I've officially been a derby girl for two years as of March 25, 2015. I've learned so much and met so many derbs! I've started to focus on jamming, especially on my flat track teams. It's terrifying, thrilling and insanely rewarding to jam through a pack of strong, crazy girls who want to hit you, hard and put points on the scoreboard! What a rush. Being a captain for my bank track team is mind bending. Can you imagine managing 11 other badass skater babes?!?! Not easy!
I'm so excited for the next two years of my derby life to unfold. More skillz, more drillz, more points, more stars on my head and more derbs to skate with and call friends!!  ðŸ’š Joy Divizion

Whisker Kisses

I realized that I was taking my furs for granted today during this awful rainy weather.  Almost 2 weeks ago I let Ozmo and Lulu out at night when I got home from derby practice, as I normally do. 30 minutes later, after showering and getting into pajamas I let them in. Lulu came right in, as usual but Ozmo didn't move from his spot on the patio. I picked him up to bring him inside for bed and he growled. It was an odd sound at first, he's never growled before. It took me a moment to realize he was actually growling. It scared me a little and definitely took me by surprise.  I sat him down and asked him what his problem was and that's when I noticed his limp tail, bloody paws, cut up legs and bleeding mouth. I shreeked in fear and realized the growl was from the pain of me picking him up. My heart broke in the discovery that not only was he in pain but I put him in more pain when I picked him up.  I packed him gently into his carrier and we were off to the emergency vet. After 4 hours I brought him home not knowing what happened to him and having to consider getting his tail amputated.  Ozmo was stitched up and doped up and hid under the bed for 2 days while Lulu paced my apartment meowing in fear of the strange cat lurking in the darkness.  Ozmo's regular vet determined he was hit by a car and gave me more drugs, one the size of a nickel that was specifically for his damaged liver, a total of 4 to give him twice daily.  He's been hiding under my bed for nearly 14 days while Lulu meows sadly, day and night.

I've been missing him more than I could have ever imagined. For the past nearly 3 years he's slept on my legs at night, cuddled me on the couch, slept next to my computer while I worked each day from home and at 4:PM on the dot he reminds me it's time for his dinner by rubbing against my ankles and meowing up at me.  After the accident my legs have been cold at night, my desk empty of his furry sleep and 4:PM becomes 5:PM before I notice. His absence has been felt by myself and Lulu.  What was once almost annoying to me has become the treasures my heart holds dearly & deeply.  He's my silent mouser with big yellow eyes, a small black nose and pink lips.

Today was a most joyous day when Ozmo jumped up in my lap on the couch and snuggled into my blanket and passed out into a whisker blissed nap in my arms. Lulu followed Close behind and snuggled on my legs.

I've missed them both so much during this time of meds, darkness and healing.  I thought I loved them so much before but I love them more fiercely than I can describe. My fur babies are my most precious friends and family.  Whatever did happen to Ozmo I am thankful he is back in my lap, purring and even moving his tail a little bit too!  I am honored to have Ozmo & Lulu as my kitty cats and I will ❤️ them 4ever.  ðŸ’š Joy Divizion #206

Slippery

My 84A Radar Wheels went back on my Wickeds yesterday for some banked track action in Austin, TX. with TXRD. The 93A Bullets definitely made me fast. I flew around the track but I also slipped out and slid all over. I hated to let that speed go but at the end of the day I need to have control. 💚 Joy Divizion #206
